Frequently Asked Questions
These consultations are not covered under OHIP. If you have a private insurance plan, they might offer some coverage for the cost of the consultations and/or BHRT prescriptions. It is up to you to contact your insurance provider to determine your coverage.
Patients will pay the custom compounding pharmacy directly and the pharmacy will ship your prescription directly via express post with signature. Patient(s) can submit their own receipts to their insurance. Coverage depends on your insurance plan.
*Note: patients can keep all receipts and claim tests, consultations and rx/prescriptions on their taxes.
There will be lab tests required before each consult (initial and follow up) to assess levels of the new treatment plan. Most of the Lab tests that are ordered will be covered under OHIP. Blood work can be done at your nearest lab.
STEP 1
HEALTH HISTORY QUESTIONNAIRE
After getting in touch with us, you will be asked to complete an online health history form. Once this form and payment are received, Nurse Practitioner Abigail will review your form and determine the appropriate blood tests needed. Blood test requisitions will then be sent through a secure email platform (approx 48 hrs from receiving intake forms). Once blood work results are received Abigail will assess your eligibility for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) treatment. If you are eligible, we will contact you and schedule your initial consultation.
*blood tests in Ontario are covered by OHIP where applicable.
STEP 2
CONSULTATION- AN IN DEPTH ANALYSIS
During your initial consultation an in-depth analysis of your health based on your symptoms, health history and test results will be reviewed with you. You will get a recommendation on how bioidentical hormone replacement therapy’s (BHRT) integrative approach would work for you to provide ”optimal hormone levels”. If you choose to move forward with treatment, prescriptions will be faxed to the pharmacy the same day.
*Please note-All consult and follow up fees must be paid in full prior to the session or the appointment will be deemed canceled.

FAQs About IUDs
IUDs are more than 99% effective, making them one of the most reliable forms of contraception available. Both copper and hormonal IUDs provide long-term protection against pregnancy.
IUDs are suitable for most women, including those who have never had children. This makes them a versatile choice for a wide range of individuals seeking effective long-term birth control.
Pain during IUD insertion varies. Most women experience some discomfort, typically described as mild cramping, which is brief since the insertion process is usually very quick.
No, IUDs do not increase the risk of infections or infertility. Studies have shown that the risk of pelvic infections is not higher in IUD users compared to those who use other types of contraception.
Hormonal IUDs may reduce or stop periods, which is generally not harmful. Copper IUDs might cause heavier periods initially, but this often normalizes over time.
It is unlikely. The strings of the IUD soften and curl around the cervix over time, making them less noticeable. If they are felt, they can be easily trimmed by a healthcare provider.
Many insurance plans cover the cost of IUDs, potentially making them free or very affordable.
Yes, especially the copper IUD, which can be effective as emergency contraception if inserted within five days after unprotected sex.
There is no proven link between IUDs and weight gain. Hormonal changes associated with IUDs do not typically affect body weight.
Not necessarily. You can have an IUD removed at any time, and its contraceptive effects end almost immediately upon removal. This flexibility allows users to choose when they no longer wish to use the method.
